Montenegro: D-Moll – Heaven

Over in Montenegro they've gone and selected D-Moll with the song Heaven. All I can hear is the word 'falling' repeating over and over and over in my head during this painful 3-minutes. The diction is bad, the vocals are off key, and the throwback 1990s Stock Aitken Waterman-inspired arrangement is dire. There is nothing to review here other than to say Montenegro won't qualify and are probably a good bet for last place in semi-final 1.

  1. Is this the worst song to go to Eurovision in the last decade?

  2. I think this would have been top 5 in 1999 the song isnt that terrible, just outdated.

    • I agree – more dated than terrible. The poor quality television production didn’t help nor did the staging (was that a budget version of Sergey Lazarev’s ‘wall’). Also, the song is basically a duet not a group song as performed.

I’m sure it will look and hopefully sound a whole lot better in Tel Aviv and that might elevate it from Gav’s ‘Hell’ to a more respectable ‘Purgatory’

Okay, I’m trying to find nice things to say, but it’s a surefire Non-Qualifier.

  3. It’s as certain a NQ as Iceland was last year really, I don’t mind it but there is nothing about this that would make me want to pick up the phone and vote. If this was representing a western county I’d give this a decent shot at Nil pointe from the public at least but with some diaspora + Neighbour votes it might scrape enough to avoid last, dead certainty for bottom 2 or 3.

  4. Have you ever given a lower rating in history of ESC TIPS Gav??

  5. Sorry for spamming in this article, but I could not find another good place:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear Gavster! Wish you many lucrative bets and lots of fun. We appreciate and love your work!

    • Oh thanks. I’ve no idea how you knew other that the Melfest preview.
There will be no coverage this weekend, just retweets of the main announcements.
Glad you enjoy the site. I don’t have as much time this year, so focussing on the main events only. As ever, thank you for reading and taking part.

  6. If you judge the LIVE performance alone, then, yes, it’s quite bad but the song itself is nice. Also revamped version is much better then the old one. Iceland last year was much much worse than this in my opinion. I really don’t see why everyone is hating this song.
