Lithuania: Fusedmarc – Rain of Revolution

Lithuania's selection process for 2017 felt like it started sometime before last year's Eurovision. It just went on and on and on. Anyway, the end arrived tonight and Fusedmarc won the chance to represent their nation with the song, Rain of Revolution. Despite better quality videos being circulated in the comments section below, the fact remains that this is another esoteric entry from Lithuania that seems to lack a coherent melody or any reason to vote for it. It confuses in the same way Attention did in 2014, which was their first non-qualification since 2010. The "yeah yeah..." chorus is just a collection of noise…

Lithuania’s selection process for 2017 felt like it started sometime before last year’s Eurovision.

The “yeah yeah…” chorus is just a collection of noise to fill a gap the writers were too lazy to develop. In short, it’s a mess.

Then there’s the vocals, which are breathy, shouty and not likely to attract support from the international juries. Therefore, Lithuania are reliant on their diaspora to push them over the line in what is an open semi-final. Even with their diaspora, it’s difficult to see Lithuania scraping through without major improvements to the song and presentation. One to keep an eye one.

Are Lithuania relying on their diaspora?

  1. Check this link. This is Fusedmarc’s best performance. goo.gl/RB5Eo0

  2. I don’t remember anyone talking about this but it’s pants. Not helping semi 2’s cause. Should be nq.

  3. Other than the expats, I’m struggling to think of any demographic this might appeal to. Come back Donny, all is forgiven…

  4. Personally, on three listens, I quite like this. The song has merit, but it’s not of a style that normally goes down well at Eurovision. The stage lighting is good and fits the song well but the stage looks a bit empty.

My main problem is with the singer. She has got a lot of energy but there is absolutely no connection with the viewer at home. I also can’t work out if she can sing or not. Maybe the sound production wasn’t the best, Maybe her English is heavily accented (I’ve no idea what she was singing about!).

Whatever the reasons, something needs work if this is to progress beyond the semi-finals.

  5. If it wasnt for diaspora this would be dead in the water but with the diaspora I wouldn’t be surprised if Lithuania sneak through in 9th or 10th.

  6. I haven’t been following Lithuania’s NF so this is the first time I’m hearing this song…

What the hell is this? Is this even trying to be a song?! Plus the production sounds like it was made on a 2005 edition of Garage Band.

  7. Before you crusify the song at least watch her performance from the final because it’s much more improved. Personally, I think this is one of the best songs Lithuanian ever sent.

  8. If this was the entry from a western country it would be a dead certain non qualifier but with Lithuania’s diaspora and second half draw I would give them a 50/50 shot and thats only if everything goes right for them, which just shows how poor a song this is.
