Norway: MGP Finalists Presented

Norway has just presented the artists competed in this year’s Melodi Grand Prix final. Last year they failed to qualify for the first time since 2011 when Stella Mwangi’s Haba Haba finished 17th in semi-final 1 with just 30 points.

Song snippets were presented today with full versions due next Wednesday. You can hear the snippets on the MGP Instagram feed and main website.

The lineup is as follows:

  1. Ulrica – Places
  2. Jenny Augusta – I go where you go
  3. Rune Rudberg Band – Run Run Away
  4. JOWST – Grab The Moment
  5. Kristian Valen – You & I
  6. In Fusion – Nothing Ever Knocked Us Over
  7. Amina Sewali – Masterpieces
  8. AMMUNITION – Wrecking Crew
  9. Elin & The Woods – First Step In Faith
  10. Ella – Mummy Boy

The international jury will only be used in the first round of voting, with the public deciding the outcome of the super final. Personally, I would go to Sweden with a begging bowl in the hope of getting a song close to qualification standard.

  1. I thought Norway wanted to win?
Two terrible years now. Wrecking Crew most promising and could stand out, Places and Grab The Moment might be ok.

    Seriously dissapointing though.

  2. Haven’t got a chance to get my thoughts together but based on what I’ve read this a poor selection by Norway’s standard. Had to be said though, this is only 15 seconds worth of clips so I’ll keep open minded til next week!

  3. Man, the snippets do not reflect well on the quality of songs. Ella was the only one that stood out as promising.

  4. Betsson have a market up if anyone wants to bet on this.Il be waiting for the full songs i think. Are Norway another country that arent trying anymore?.

  5. If it weren’t for the international juries, that woman with the antlers would probably win.
Seriously though, the standard is piss poor. Only Ulrikke could offer them a sliver of hope.

  6. So er, Wig Wa- I mean, Ammunition then? Seems a bit blatant really.

  7. Running order is now out: https://www.nrk.no/mgp/her-er-latrekkefolgen-i-arets-mgp-1.13407400

I’d say Ammunition and Elin got the best deal here, and they clearly want to push Ella because of who wrote it

  8. The way the international juries will be used has been announced, basically the first round of voting will be 50/50 split, the superfinal will be 100% televote (four songs as usual). I’m not entirely sure but I think it does mention jury spokesmen announcing their top score during the show in the article, so the results of the first voting round might be made public: https://www.nrk.no/1.13407436
