Montenegro: Highway – The Real Thing

Montenegro has just presented their Eurovision entry having internally selected Highway back in October. Highway will perform The Real Thing in semi-final 1. Every genre of music has it's fans, but as Finland discovered last year, these alternative sounds do little to attract widespread support. Despite the musical merits of The Real Thing, if indeed you can hear any, it will certainly struggle to accrue enough votes to place Montenegro anywhere near qualification positions, especially in the tricky first semi-final. It maybe brutal, but Montenegro have zero chance of qualification in Stockholm. Are Highway the real thing? Make sure you…

In fairness, it does sound better on youtube with actual audio that doesn’t suck, but yeah, this is pretty terrible and a 100% non-qualifier. Can we just move on to next year’s contest? Because the songs mostly stink for this year.

  2. Well it’s not the 2007 Czech entry.

    That’s all I got.

  3. Last in the semi, enough said

  4. I am going to cry… or to return the tickets for Sweden. What a shame of year, damn!

  5. To be brutally honest I was listening it, then I tapped on the screen and was in shock that there was still 1:30 or so left…a LONG 3 minutes or should I say 1:30 because I spouts stopped watching at that point and I fully expect the viewers at home to do the same. Montenegro have only qualified with entries that are unique to there region and I expect that to stay intact this year, It’s disapointing as they have been in my personal top 5 for the past three years but this year like most of the entries have been a tad dissapointing! In case you haven’t realised by now I am calling his NQ!

It’s like Sweden have payed the other broadcasters to throw in the towell this year so they can break the record and with this enough conspiracy theory’s for me!

  6. Hard to be disappointed when you have so low expectations but this is really bad. Needless to say it’s going absolutely nowhere.
When it takes longer to reveal the song than compose it you know you’ve got acertain nq on your hands

  7. This makes last year’s Finnish entry look positively amazing. I can’t recall a review with so few stars at the outset from Gav. Enough said. Pass me the bucket.

  8. The EBU have a disaster on their hands this year unless SVT can bring some songs alive with staging.Even the few good songs are very average, and the rest utter rubbish and actually mostly offensive, none more so than this ear cancer from Montenegro. The new vote changes should help things next year though because at least you can aim for the televote or the jury if you want and it might tempt greater diversity back to the contest.

  9. You guys don’t realise I’ll have to listen to these guys rehearse eight or nine times in Stockholm, as well as enduring the live show performance.
