Moldova: Lidia Isac – Falling Stars

Moldova have just selected their 2016 challenger from O Melodie Pentru Europa 2016. Lidia Isac will travel to Stockholm with the song Falling Stars. Falling Stars is full of the usual dance song platitudes, and as a Eurovision entry, it is rather poor. What's worse, is Lidia's vocals lack the tone, control and power this song need.  The arrangement also lacks originality and doesn't push the boundaries from the hundreds of other tacky dance songs entered over the years. Admittedly, the Moldovan national final studio wasn't up to scratch, so it'll be interesting to hear Lidia perform at one of the pre-Eurovision…

Lidia's road to qualification is much harder that Eduard Romanyuta's at this point last year.

Admittedly, the Moldovan national final studio wasn’t up to scratch, so it’ll be interesting to hear Lidia perform at one of the pre-Eurovision concerts. It’s worth remembering that Eduard Romanyuta ended up being quite good last year, but still missed out on qualification. I think Lidia’s road to qualification is much harder.

Can Moldova qualify from semi-final 1?

  1. This has been a rubbish year so far but this song is a new fucking low… Not going to waste all my breath, bad song badly performed by a bad singer in a bad semi… NQ simple as!

  2. I think this is a decent song, needs better backing singers, and I dunno about qualifying but we can rely on Moldova to deliver a great stage show.

  3. Not sure why everyone’s so negative on this – sounds like a fairly safe qualifier to me once you take into account how it’ll look & sound when it’s not dealing with the limitations of Moldovan television. It’s by the same team behind Russia 2015 as well, who obviously have experience.

  4. Ok, well the original submission was actually not that bad, but for some reason they’ve lowered the key and halved the impact of the chorus. Lidia was impressively capable of hitting the high notes but they’ve come to the decision not to push her vocally.

This is the version she performed in the NF, likely the final one.
