Cohesiveness of Package
Given Georgia are in the larger of the two semi-finals, their chances of qualification are all the more difficult.
Georgia have just chosen their song for Eurovision having previously internally selected Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz as artists.
Bizarrely, the winning song, Midnight Gold, received 1,310 televotes, 1,168 more than the next best supported song, which suggests the vote may have been… erm… influenced.
The group will now record the final version of Midnight Gold at the Red Bull Studios in Berlin.
This is quite a competent song from Georgia. Unluckily for Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz, Midnight Gold has been entered into the wrong contest.
There’s bound to be a little bit of jury love for this song, but we’re talking about a 12th or 13th place ranking at best, rather than something capable of overturning what will be a low televote score. Had the song being more contemporary, or chart worthy, we may have been looking at a borderline qualifier. Given Georgia is in the larger of the two semi-finals, their chances of qualification are all the more difficult.
Will 2016 be another struggle for Georgia?
