Album: Emmelie de Forest – Only Teardrops

If there’s one Eurovision artist’s album you should consider buying, Emmelie de Forest’s Only Teardrops, released earlier this month, should be at the top of your list.

The folk-inspired album is made up of 10 tracks and a short orchestral Teardrops prologue to set the mood for what is a thoroughly absorbing collection of music.

If the folk sound isn’t your thing, then listen to the more electronic Change.  Though if you were one of the many fans of her winning Eurovision entry, you’ll be an even bigger fan of her album.

  1. No. No. No. Its the biggest blandest album out of all the competitors this year that have track collections out. I’d put Anouk, Koza Mostra, and even Roberto Bellarosa ahead of Emmelie’s long player.

    • LOL Ewan! I actually have Koza Mostra’s album already on the back of their London display. I do think there are some gems on Only Teardrops, but thanks for the headsup 🙂

  2. I got one of the signed ones pre-release knowing once she won ESC id cherish it haha.)

Its a superb album ,mostly self penned and really shows the influence of Fraser Neill on Emmelie. It was her working with Frazer from such a young age that to me gave her the genuine folk sound and history that delivered the win.Id go so far as to say if she hadnt worked so much with Fraser she probably wouldnt of won ESC or Teardrops wouldnt of worked as well as it did.
It was hearing those early recordings that made me so sure Emmelie would win ESC and its captured on this album. The track Change as Gav says is a cracker as is Let it Fall.

  3. Did one of you listen to Sad Singalong Songs?
That album is so unique, you just have to listen to it!!!

  4. I like the album a lot though I would love to hear more of an acoustic/folk sound. Emmelie has been doing that nicely with her new band when performing on TV. This is Hunter & Prey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m__EzjJBv90 – more of that would be great!
